Jay-Z Ends Bacardi Dispute, Sells D’USSE stake for $750 Million

Jay-Z has ended his dispute with Bacardi and has sold his majority stake in the D’USSE brand he helped start for $750 million. It has been reportsed that the lawsuit worth millions involving the popular cognac is now resolved. The settlement will allow for Bacardi to buy JAY-Z’s 50% stake of the cognac company, leaving Bacardi owning 75% of the brand. Jay-Z will stay on as a significant owner through his own SCLiquor LLC company. He had this to say about the settlement. Jay stated “I am excited to renew this partnership with Bacardi,” after the deal was all said and done.

Jay-Z partnered with Bacardi launching D’USSÉ in 2012. The brand quickly became a favorite amongst the entertainment and music community. JAY-Z had some concerns earlier last year and decided he wanted to be bought out by the company. He unveiled Bacardi was lowballing him, and he wanted to see the books. The company offered $500 million USD buyout, but Jay wanted more along the lines of $1.5 billion. The two met somewhere in the middle and now the two sides are content with the agreement. Congrats to Jay on a major win!
