News: Phife Dawg Posthumous Album ‘Forever’ On The Way

A Tribe Called Quest group member Phife Dawg passed away five years ago and now his music will live on. His team is set to release his posthumous album Forever this year. The first single off the new album will arrive this Friday titled ‘Nutshell Part 2.’ The song features appearances by Busta Rhymes and Redman. The song is the second part of his ‘Nutshell’ single released after his death. Phife’s family had this to say:

“We are excited about the partnership with AWAL for Malik’s posthumous album release. We give all glory to God for allowing Malik to accomplish everything his heart desired, including his solo music. He worked really hard to complete his album before he transitioned, and he was ready to share an album that was near and dear to his heart with his fans. His fans meant the world to him.”

Phife’s mother has also written a book about her son sharing intimate moments about her son and her process mourning his death. She explains the book below:

“I share our story in hopes that it may inspire you to keep healing, growing, and moving forward even after you’ve been through the worst news of your life. It will take a lifetime for me to get over his loss, but I want you to learn from my story. When you’ve been given a life-threatening illness, you don’t have to curl up and die. You can rise above the challenges and keep moving. As Tribe said, ‘push it along, push it along.”

Stay tuned for the official single which arrives tomorrow and watch the original ‘Nutshell’ visual below.
