News: Baltimore in A State of Emergency After The Death of Freddie Gray

Baltimore Riots 3

Riots erupted yesterday in the city of Baltimore throughout the protests for the death of young male Freddie Gray. The 25 year old died a week after being injured by Baltimore police officers, suffering a broken vertabra after being arrested near Gilmor Homes in Sandtown-Winchester. Police have not given a cause for Gray’s injuries or specified why he was arrested, citing an investigation into the incident. Officials are expected to look into any criminal conduct by Gray and whether criminal charges against officers are warranted.

Neighborhood members proceeded to protest the violent act by taking to the street but things went left. Members of the community looted neighborhood stores then burned them down and fought with police officers while rioting in their own city.

The Governor of Maryland Larry Hogan issued a State of Emergency, activating the Maryland National Guard. Up to 5,000 troops will enter Baltimore in armored Humvees, and they will be carrying weapons.

“This is not martial law,” Maj. Gen. Linda Singh of the Maryland National Guard insisted. “Martial law means the military fully takes over. We are not at that point.”

Now Al Sharpton has announced he’s headed to Baltimore to help organize a two-day march for Gray. Take a look at the videos below and keep Baltimore in your prayers.
