Dr. Dre To Sell Music Assets to Universal Music

Dr. Dre is in the process of making a huge deal in the sale of his music assets. The deal is set to include a bundle of music income streams which generate almost $10 million in annual income. The music assets to be sold include passive income streams which include artist royalties from two of his solo albums and his share of NWA artist royalties. His royalties from production and the writer’s share of his song catalog where he doesn’t own publishing are also included. It also includes writing credits on The Chronic album, which is published by Sony Music Publishing. The music bundle equates to 75% to 90% of the package’s revenue being acquired by Shamrock, while 10% to 25% of income will be acquired by Universal Music group. The sellers were seeking $250 million, but its’ suggested that the combined total will land in the $200 million range.
