News: Kanye West’s ‘The Life of Pablo’ Tops Billboard 200
After not wanting to release his new album The Life of Pablo on iTunes, it looks like it’s a good thing Kanye West eventually did. According to Neilson, the album sold 94,000 equivalent album units after being released on non-Tidal streaming services.
The Life of Pablo is the first non-commercially released album to be generated by streaming equivalent album sales. Meaning, it’s the first album to hit #1 totally off of streams. The LP did 66,000 in sales from streaming and 28,000 in physical sales. According to Tidal, the LP was streamed more than 250 million times in its first 10 days. But due to Jay-Z and Kanye not reporting those numbers earlier lead to the albums late reign on the charts. Congrats are in order!
Thank you to everybody who made The Life of Pablo the number 1 album in the world!!!
