News: 2021 Concerts & Festivals Cancelled, Due to Pandemic

Last year when the Coronavirus pandemic took over the world, life as we knew it changed. One of our favorite outdoor activities, Concerts and Festivals became a thing of the past. But, this year we all thought things would start to get back to some sort of normal. It turns out that 2021 will be yet again another year of no concerts, no festivals or large venue events.

Coachella was one of the first festivals to cancel their 2021 Festival in an announcement made on social media. Glastonbury was also early in their announcement saying, “In spite of our efforts to move Heaven & Earth, it has become clear that we simply will not be able to make the Festival happen this year.” Boston Calling announced their cancellation stating, “The health and safety of our entire community is always our top priority, and there was no appropriate scenario under which we could provide the Boston Calling experience you love and deserve.” They also said all ticket holders would receive a full refund. SXSW is going virtual yet again from March 16-20, 2021. Ultra announced they would be rescheduling their annual festival for March 26-27, 2022. Pharrell’s Something in The Water Festival announced they will return in 2022.

Some Festivals have yet to cancel, including Bonnaroo and Lollapalooza who have announced August and September 2021 dates. Rolling Loud also announced they will be back in Miami from May 7-9th and Portugal July 10th, 2021. The Roots Picnic takes place on Saturday, June 5th at TD Pavillion at The Mann in Fairmount Park. The Broccoli City Festival is set to hit RFK Campus on May 8, 2021. The JMBLYA 2021 Festival announced they will also return this year, dates have yet to be announced.
