Event RECAP: Kanye’s Chicago DONDA Listening Party

Kanye West held his third listening session for his forthcoming album DONDA last night in Chicago at Soldier Field. The album was set to drop weeks ago after the first listening session on Atlanta, then again at the second in Cali. Now the project is set to be released on September 5th according to iTunes.

Kanye West had his childhood home reconstructed center stage complete with neon lights and smoke. After a bit of a wait, Kanye emerged from the house kicking off the event performing the song ‘Jail.’ The song previously featured a verse from Jay-Z, which was replaced with DaBaby who joined Ye on the porch along with Marilyn Manson. Numerous cars slowly surround the house while groups of people dressed in DONDA vests followed. There were several additions to the new DONDA album including Fivio Foreign and Playboi Carti on one track plus Travis Scott and Baby Keem on another. Kanye also added Lauryn Hill’s ‘Doo Wop’ vocals to a new record unveiled for the first time. Shensea and Westside Gunn also appeared on the porch followed by Rooga perfoming his ‘GD Anthem.’ To end the show all special guests enter the house which then gets set on fire, only for Kanye to emerge engulfed in flames, literally! The staff puts him out using fire extinguishers soon after.

Finally Kim Kardashian appears in a white dress with veil, approaches Kanye and the two walk away holding hands. Take a look at a recap of the DONDA Listening event below.
