Travis Scott & Live Nation Sued Over ‘Astroworld Festival’ Deaths

This story made us sick to our stomach! This past Friday, Travis Scott and Live Nation held their annual Astroworld Festival in Houston, TX. The festival was flawed from the start as fans broke through the barricades early on in the day. The night gradually escalated into a fight for survival amongst concert goers being engulfed in a sea of people. The result, eight confirmed deaths, hundreds injured and the first lawsuit by an attendee against Travis Scott and Live Nation.

The day started off with fans filling the general admission concert space at 2 pm. After opening acts finished performing, a countdown clock lured fans to the stage for Travis Scott’s performance. Before Scott hit the stage, concert-goers were trying to climb barriers to escape the heavily crowded and suffocating space that had since filled with hundreds of fans. This didn’t alert security, but was the first sign that something was wrong! Along with the cryptic image on the screen that read “See you on the other side.” A sign from the crowd read “Will We Survive?” Shortly after 9 pm, Scott hit the stage as the crowd rushed forward to where he was located in excitement. But, this pushing and shoving was said to create panic leading to individuals getting trampled, passing out and being stepped on. Travis stopped the music for a moment but continued as fans were screaming for help. One concert-goer explained she “fainted into a sea of bodies on the floor.” Numerous people accounted seeing “dead bodies everywhere.”

An ambulance tried to get through the packed crowd as the Houston police were declaring the event a “mass casualty incident. Houston police officer Larry Satterwhite stated, “Suddenly we had several people down on the ground, experiencing some type of cardiac arrest or some type of medical episode.” Promoters told police they agreed to stop the show, but felt it was better to continue than risk the crowd rioting. After 37 minutes more, Drake came out and the crowd rushed the stage again.

The lawsuit brought forward by concert-goer Manuel Souza states the Astroworld Festival was “a motivation for profit at the expense of concertgoers’ health and safety” and the “encouragement of violence.” His lawyer is aguing the “Defendants failed to properly plan and conduct the concert in a safe manner. Instead, they consciously ignored the extreme risks of harm to concertgoers, and, in some cases actively encouraged and fomented dangerous behaviors.”

This is just one of many lawsuits that are expected to be filed in the coming weeks. The concert was one of the most deadliest crowds in music concert history. Souza’s attorneys are accusing the organizers of negligence and gross negligence and are seeking at least $1 million in damages. The lawsuit names Travis Scott, Scoremore and Live Nation as defendants, plus Cactus Jack Records, LLC and other companies involved in the event. This could have been avoided and is extremely sad, someone should be held accountable! This festival should be cancelled until further notice, prayers to those who lost their lives.

Update: It has been reported that 12 more lawsuits have been filed today alone. Travis Scott will also be paying for the funerals of the deceased concert-goers. He posted a video on Instagram about the Astroworld Festival tragedy.
