Troy Ave was released from jail today, posting $500,000 bail, putting up his mothers’ Brooklyn home. He was charged with attempted murder, weapons possession and more in the May 25th Irving Plaza shooting at a T.I. concert in New York City.

Troy Ave insists he is not the person who fired the fatal shot killing his bodyguard, Ronald McPhatter. After being held without bail for over a month, Troy Ave was let go today and was required to wear an ankle bracelet. He was also told not to leave the city and cannot attend any concert halls, bars, arenas and other performance venues. The terms of his bail also bar him from visiting his two young children in New Jersey. The District Attorney in the case had this to say:

‘What is clear is that the investigation from the outset has been hampered by the defendant who not only fired and removed the weapon from the crime scene, he refused to help in any way to identify who killed McPhatter.’ -Joshua Steinglass

It still is unclear as to whether Troy Ave was the only shooter in the case. His attorney John Stella has argued that Troy wrestled the gun away from the man who killed McPhatter and fired back in self-defense.

‘We feel that we have a case to present that’s ultimately going to exonerate him and indicate that his actions were justified.’ -John Stella
