Def Jam Forward Celebrates 1 Year Anniversary

Check Out Def Jam Forward, a task force committed to fostering a community that values, promotes and demands respect, freedom, equal opportunity and justice for Black lives and all marginalized communities – caps its first 12 months of music industry leadership across a wide platform of social action initiatives at the local and national level.
 
Conceived in the wake of the George Floyd, Breonna Taylor and Ahmaud Arbery tragedies, Def Jam was determined to channel the power, influence and reach of one of the world’s most potent hip-hop cultural forces to advance positive change in a deeply troubled community.
 
Def Jam Forward officially launched during the industry-wide call to action, Blackout Tuesday, with a comprehensive resource guide for Def Jam and its social community to direct their support. Urging Def Jam’s staff to donate one day’s salary, employee contributions pointed toward a potential $100,000 to the cause of social justice.
