Event RECAP: #GlobalHipHopDay and The Unveiling of Hip Hop Blvd in The Bronx

Yesterday we got a chance to witness a huge day for Hip Hop in the heart of where it all started, The Bronx, NY. Tons of legendary celebrities came out to celebrate Global Hip Hop Day and the Proclamation of 1520 Sedgwick Avenue being renamed as the official Hip Hop Blvd.

Some of the attendees of the historic day included DJ Scratch, Funk Flex, Kid Capri, Doug E. Fresh, Slick Rick, The Lox, Fat Joe, Remy Ma , Cardi B and many more. Bronx Borough President, Ruben Diaz Jr. spoke on the importance of growing up in the Bronx and the culture Hip Hop has provided. Several artists and DJ’s were honored at the Global Hip Hop Day event bringing the community together along with Hip Hop’s greatest talents.

Global Hip Hop Day is supported by a variety of key partners, including: The Bronx Borough President’s office, the office of Councilwoman Vanessa L. Gibson, the office of Mayor Bill de Blasio, Kool Herc, The Universal Hip Hop Museum, Generation Hip Hop, The BulLion Foundation, Windows of Hip Hop and HOT 97.
