News: Nine People Killed At Historical Black Church In Charleston, Gunman Captured
A gunman shot and killed nine people last night at a Black Historic Church in Charleston, SC before setting off an overnight manhunt. The police chief, Greg Mullen is calling the shooting a hate crime as the gunman walked into the historic Emanuel African Methodist Episcopal Church at 9 pm and began shooting. The suspect, Dylann Storm Roof was captured 200 miles away in North Carolina after an intense 14-hour manhunt shortly after 11 am this morning.
Police Officers are saying Dylann Roof walked into the church last night into a prayer meeting and sat with the black parishioners for an hour before he began shooting. Among the victims was Rev. Clementa C. Pinckney, a pastor at the church, who was also a state senator. There was a vigil held blocks away from the crime scene where mourners joined to give their respects.
