News: Tupac Nominated For the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame

Tupac has been acknowledged as a nominee for the 2017 Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. He has been nominated along with 19 other nominees including Chaka Khan, Janet Jackson and more with only five spots available. The winners will be voted on by artists, historians and music industry members and announced in December at a special event at The Barclays Center in Brooklyn, NY.

The Rock and Roll Hall of Fame already includes Hip Hop acts like Grandmaster Flash and The Furious Five, Run-D.M.C., Beastie Boys, Public Enemy and N.W.A. If chosen Tupac will become 7th Hip Hop musician to be inducted. The Hall of Fame states an individual artist or band must have released its first single or album at least 25 years prior to the year of nomination. Next year, Common, Redman and UGK will all become eligible but whether they’re nominated is another story.
