News: Kendrick Lamar Accepts Pulitzer Prize Award In New York
Kendrick Lamar attended Columbia University as the first rapper ever to accept the 2018 Pulitzer Prize Award for Music. The Award was for his DAMN album which the committee referred to as ‘a virtuosic song collection unified by its vernacular authenticity and rhythmic dynamism that offers affecting vignettes capturing the complexity of modern African-American life.’
Kendrick accepted the award stating, ‘It’s an honor, been writing my whole life, so to get this type of recognition is beautiful.’ Tons of celebrities congratulated the rapper online and at the luncheon, take a look below.
