News: Hip Hop Music is Now The Most Popular Genre in The U.S.

Hip Hop

Hip Hop music, to me, has been the most popular genre for years, but Forbes reports that it today! Hip Hop is everywhere and it is now the most listened to and downloaded genre in the Unites States. When back in the day, the go to genre was Pop and Rock, today it is Hip Hop music.

According to Neilsen Sounscan, Hip Hop accounts for 25.1% of all music nsumption in the U.S., where Rock is 23%. Rock music still leads in actual album sales in the country (at 40%), although that number is likely to change. Drake and Kendrick also held two of the highest selling albums for 2017 so far. Take a look at the Billboard Charts for this week.
