News: 50 Cent Will Produce & Feature In New Comedy ‘My Friend 50’ on FOX
50 Cent has teamed up with producer Will Packer for a new comedy series on FOX called My Friend 50. The show follows Amanda Kramer, an unstable twentysomething who believes that joining 50 Cent’s entourage is the answer to all her problems. Her unlikely journey with 50 Cent’s crew takes the form of a bizarre documentary commissioned by the most unreliable narrator in history: Amanda.
The project hails from Packer’s Will Packer Productions, Jackson’s G-Unit Film & Television and Universal Television, where Packer is under a first-look production deal. Korin D. Huggins, Head of Television for Will Packer Productions, co-executive produces.
In addition to his two TV series — NBC’s Truth Be Told and ABC’s upcoming Uncle Buck — on the feature side Packer has produced seven No. 1 films, including Ride Along, Think Like A Man and its sequel, and also was an executive producer on hit Straight Outta Compton. His next film, Ride Along 2, opens on January 15. Will Packers Prods.’ TV development slate also includes a Think Like A Man comedy series adaptation and drama The Diplomats at Fox; as well as comedy Bonita & Mechelle, with Eva Longoria producing, and drama Buckhead, both at NBC.
