Watch Fat Joe vs. Ja Rule VERZUZ Battle

Last night VERZUZ held the latest song battle with Fat Joe and Ja Rule. The battle was held at the Hulu theater at Madison Square Garden in NYC brought to you by Triller. The two legendary artists went head-to-head in a 20-song battle in front of an excited New York crowd.

The night started with Terror Squad’s own Pretty Lou and Technician the DJ getting the crowd warmed up with a DJ set. Then, the two legendary acts Fat Joe and Ja Rule kicked off the battle with the usual NY shit talk. It wouldn’t be a NY based VERZUZ battle any other way. Fat Joe was first up in the battle while Ja Rule responded effortlessly. The two traded smack talk back and forth with Joe stating “Where you been for 20 years Ja.” Fat Joe was extra cocky stating he made stars bringing out Remy Ma for ‘All The Way Up,’ Dre to perform ‘Excited,’ Nelly who also performed his hit single ‘Hot In Here.’ He also played a song from the late Terror Squad artist Big Pun ‘Still Not A Player’ while Ja yelled out “That’s not your song Joe.’

Ja Rule countered playing some of the biggest songs of his career. He made sure to let the crowd know he has hits saying, “I’m the singing rapper! I started this shit! You getting bodied by a singing rapper!” Ja performed ‘I’m Real’ which featured J-Lo although she was not in attendance. He also played ‘I Cry’ bringing out Lil Mo who sounded great. Ashanti made a guest appearance on ‘Mesmerized’ with Ja Rule and ‘What’s Love’ with Fat Joe which Ja also featured on. The performance prompted Ja’s statement, “out of all the hooks I ever wrote, I wish I had kept that one.’ Fat Joe continued telling Ja Rule ‘Yesterdays hits are not todays hits.’ But Ja just responded, ‘Yesterdays hits are todays classics.’ One of the best moments was when Ja Rule brought out Lil Mo and Vita to perform the classic ‘What’s Love.’

The mood of the entire VERZUZ was tense, but the battle ended on a cordial note. Fat Joe showed Ja love in then end stating, “I want my brother to get the props he deserves, I fuckin’ love Ja Rule, with all my heart.” Then they brought out Jadakiss for their collaborative song ‘New York.’ In the end Fat Joe’s bragging and confident attitude didn’t sit well with viewers while Ja ignored the insults and remained calm and collected. Big Brother Biz originally stated on Check Your Potential that Fat Joe would mop the floor with Ja, but he was clearly wrong lol! Many people are saying Ja Rule won by a landslide, what do you think?
