Event RECAP: MTV #VMAs 2016 Performances and More

Rihanna Performs

The 2016 MTV Video Music Awards were held last night at Madison Square Garden in New York City. Tons of celebrities flooded the venue for the annual awards show in which Rihanna received The Michael Jackson Video Vanguard Award. She graced the stage 3 times performing songs old and new opening up the show. There were additional performances by Beyonce, Nick Jonas, Ty Doll $ign, Ariana Grande, Nicki Minaj, Future, Britney Spears, G-Eazy and more. Beyonce also made history surpassing Madonna with the most VMA wins ever. She was nominated for 11 awards and took home 8 of them including Video of the Year, Best Female Video and Best Pop Video.

Kanye West took to the stage to speak, shouting out Amber Rose, and gave the audience a live preview of his new video ‘Fade’ featuring Teyana Taylor. Take a look at some red carpet images, performances and more below.
